March Tool : Bringing together the 3 self-help tools

We have looked at Finders, Minders and Grinders and seen how having the right mix can benefit a business,

We also addressed the issue of Working In, On and Out of the Business and looked at the breakdown of activity at the personal level.

Last month we considered the balance of Cost vs. Value.

Individually, these three tools are very powerful as they allow you to look at the everyday with a fresh perspective. On the other hand, if we consider all three tools holistically then they are in the territory of 'greater than the sum of the parts'.

Essentially what these tools say is that for every single person in the business (yourself included!) there are 3 questions that you need to ask/answer:

Q1: Is that person doing the right mix of finding, minding and grinding in the business.

Q2: Is that person spending the right amount of time working IN the business (the finding, minding and grinding), ON the business (contributing ideas and opportunities for the business to grow/develop) and OUT of the business (being exposed to new ideas, information and opportunities to do the IN and ON activities better!).

Q3: With all the Finding, Minding and Grinding that person is doing while working IN, ON and OUT of the business - Are they incurring COST or generating VALUE?
